Childhood Cancer Awareness Group of Coffee County (CCAGCC) is a non-profit organization that provides financial, emotional and spiritual support to the families of children diagnosed with cancer. Receiving the news that your child has cancer can be crippling and stressful. Thanks to hundreds of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly on behalf of the children and their families, CCAGCC is more than just a charity – it’s a support system. Based in Coffee County, Georgia and serving the contiguous counties including Ware, Jeff Davis, Ben Hill, Irwin, Atkinson, Telfair, Bacon and Berrien, we specialize in helping children and their families in Southeast Georgia. Our organization is unique and gives local donors an opportunity to give to a foundation whose core mission is to serve the local children. The majority of all donations made are directed back to the families in need, helping to alleviate the stress often caused after a cancer diagnosis, with only a small percentage being used for administrative fees within the organization. Whether to offset the loss of a job due to caring for a child or to help tackle increased expenses from travel and medical costs, CCAGCC funds support local families so they focus less on the logistics and more on helping their child thrive. In addition to taking care of local families, a portion of donations are contributed to funding cutting edge research that is directly beneficial to finding less toxic treatment options and advances in finding cures. To ensure all finances are being utilized efficiently and effectively, our Board of Directors, comprised of seven members, carefully reviews all applications and a vote is always required to approve financial requests. The board is seriously invested in being good stewards of the generosity of the community and is committed to upholding the bylaws. Each year during September, the nationally recognized Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, CCAGCC hosts a silent auction, live auction, bake sale, raffle and t-shirt sale to raise funds for the upcoming year. Hundreds of donations totaling thousands of dollars are up for auction allowing CCAGCC to support the cancer patients and their families.
